Irwin Fire in Palermo destroyed one home and several vehicles

The CAL FIRE Butte Unit is responding to a vegetation fire that has spread to a home and to multiple vehicles.

PALERMO, Calif. - The CAL FIRE Butte Unit is responded to a fire in Palermo on Saturday that destroyed one home and damaged another structure. The fire was first reported at 3:35 p.m. in the 6000 block of Irwin Avenue as a vegetation fire.

By approximately 5:00 p.m. on Saturday the forward spread of the fire had been stopped. Action News Now was told that one home was destroyed and several vehicles were burned up.

The total size of the fire was .56 acres.

Seven engines/truck companies responded. 36 people were involved in the firefighting incident.

A report issued by CAL FIRE Saturday night confirmed that the home at the north end of Irwin Ave. could not be saved. Also, a small outbuilding, a travel trailer, and two other vehicles also burned in the fire.

All of the people who were inside the home were able to escape from the flames without any injuries.

The cause of the Irwin Fire is still under investigation by CAL FIRE.
