Investigators determine vegetation fire in Redding to be 'human-caused'

Crews in Redding contained a vegetation fire in 30 minutes on Friday.

REDDING, Calif. – Crews in Redding contained a vegetation fire in 30 minutes on Friday.

The Redding Fire Department said they responded to the vegetation fire around 6:32 a.m. Friday. It was located in the area of Lost Lane in Redding.

First arriving units said the vegetation fire was about one acre with a moderate rate of spread. Due to the current Red Flag conditions, additional resources were requested to the scene.

Firefighters said they were able to contain the fire in 30 minutes to two acres. No injuries were reported in this incident.

A Redding Fire Department Investigator at the scene said they located remnants of an illegal encampment within the fire perimeter. The cause of the fire was determined to be human caused, according to investigators.
