The event will include a skateboarding competition, a clinic for youth, and demonstrations by skaters of various ages.

The event will also feature a raffle, multiple live bands, and local vendors whose support helped complete the skate parks’ upgrades.

Chico Skatepark Solutions is a collective of teachers, administrators, creatives, and other skating advocates.

As a group they petitioned CARD in 2016 to revamp the skate park.

Ove the last two years, Chico Skatepark Solutions led a grassroots movement that raised $80,000 to go toward the skate park.

CARD completed the upgrades this Spring including, a bigger bowl, new street features, enhanced existing features, a colorful mural on the restroom building, and select landscaping.

Admission to the Grand Re-Opening is free.

The competition carries an entry fee of $10 per person.

The day’s schedule is as follows. Please note that this is tentative and subject to change.

• 9 a.m.–10 a.m.—Registration for competition participants ($10/person) and free skate

• 10–10:30 a.m.—Free clinic featuring local skateboard makers Parttime Skateboards whose founders lead CARD’s summer skateboarding camp

We began the first full week of August on a slightly cooler note with a lot of high clouds, haze and smoke for most parts of northern California. The high clouds will remain through much of Tuesday, with other changes coming soon.
