HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. - A Humboldt County man is facing multiple charges after police say he stabbed a dog and an 85-year-old man.
Around 9:21 p.m. on Wednesday, sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a fight and a suspect armed with a knife at a home on Grace Avenue in McKinleyville.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the suspect, Jonathon Albert Boone, 38, outside of the home. After multiple attempts to detain him, which included using a taser, deputies were able to take Boone into custody.
During the investigation at the scene, deputies found an 85-year-old man in the home that was suffering from non-life threatening stab wounds to his neck and shoulder.
Deputies learned that Boone and the victim were in a confrontation earlier in the evening. The victim told deputies that Boone assaulted a 39-year-old woman inside the home and then stabbed a dog, killing it. After that, a fight broke out between Boone and the 85-year-old victim.
Boone was booked into a Humboldt County correctional facility on charges of attempted murder, elder abuse, robbery, animal cruelty, brandishing a weapon, criminal threats, battery, resisting arrest and violation of Post Release Community Supervision.
