The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is reporting the suspect in a shooting that left a Sheriff's deputy injured is now in custody.

HCSO says it all started at around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, when deputies arrived on scene to a home on the 700 block of Coppini Lane in Ferndale for a welfare check. A deputy was then shot shortly after arrived. That unidentifed deputy was taken to a loal hospital and is now in stable condition.

The suspect, Hugo Parral-Aguirre, was found several hours later at 4:30 a.m. after a search. Parral-Aguirre had multiple gunshot wounds, and was taken to a local hospital.

The investigation is ongoing. The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office asks that anyone with information calls them at (707) 445-7251
