OROVILLE, Calif. - An Oroville house fire quickly spread to another, resulting in the destruction of one home and damage to another.
The call came in around 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 30 to Greenville Street in South Oroville.
One man who lived in one of the homes says he saw flames and quickly ran outside and began spraying down the structure.
"We came back out, and the flames were higher than we could see, above the house," the man said. "So I grabbed the hose and started spraying the fence and started spraying everything down so it doesn't get close to us."
Officials say the first unit arrived on scene and reported a fully involved structure with some extension to the neighboring home. Thanks to some quick-acting fire crews, there was minimized damage to the neighboring home.
Crews remained on scene for a couple of hours putting out any remaining hot spots or smoke spots.
A total of six engines responded to the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
