CHICO, Calif. - Owners of a new distillery in Chico are making sure their whiskey will have a lasting impact on the community.

The Grand Opening for the Golden Beaver Distillery took place, Saturday, December 12, and the business donated 100% of sales that day to help rebuild the Honey Run Covered Bridge.

Golden Beaver Distillery sold all 247 bottles of Honey Run Whiskey. They even ran out of bottles earlier than expected.

On Saturday, a bottle of their Honey Run Bourbon sold for $50. The distillery also sold Christmas ornaments made out of wood from the old Honey Run Covered Bridge. The ornaments sold for $40 and they sold 78.

In total, the distillery made over $15,500.

The Golden Beaver Distillery is located at 13464 Browns Valley Road, just south of the Chico Airport.

The Camp Fire destroyed the historic bridge, which is now in the process of being rebuilt. For more information, you can also check the Honey Run Covered Bridge Facebook page.

The first weekend of autumn was pleasant for northern California, but our relatively tranquil weather will change soon. A Pacific storm is approaching the West Coast, and it will bring our area rain showers and gusty wind soon.
