CHICO, Calif. -  Early Sunday morning, at 1:38 a.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received a report about a home invasion robbery that was in progress.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Cleveland Ave. in the Chapmantown neighborhood. The suspects had fled prior to the officers' arrival.

Two adults were found who had been pepper-sprayed during the home invasion. Officers reported that the victims had been asleep when two masked suspects kicked their front door in and pepper-sprayed them. One of the suspects was also said to be armed with a stun gun.

Police said the suspects fled with an undisclosed item of the victim's property.

The suspects are described as shorter-statured male adults of unknown raise. They were wearing face masks to hide their identities.

The Chico Police Department believes this was a specifically targeted home, and they do not believe there is an increased threat to public safety.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chico Police Department at (530) 897-4900.

Light scattered showers are on tap for the start of your Thursday, and I'm tracking heavier rain ahead from Thursday afternoon through mid day Friday. We'll have a lull in our wet pattern late Friday through early Saturday, but even heavier rain and snow will return this weekend and persist into next week. Major travel impacts will be possible across northern California from this wet weather.
