HERSHEY, Pa. - An annual holiday tradition that will bring a smile to your face.

Welcome to Hershey, Pennsylvania, the home of the Hershey bears and this is their annual teddy bear toss, and it was a record-breaker.

After the home team scored their first goal Sunday, the celebration was on.

Teddy bears and all types of stuffed animals rained down on the rink. In all, a record number of 45-thousand-650 stuffed animals were counted which beats last year's record of nearly 35-thousand.

The stuffed animals, of all shapes and sizes, will find new homes during the holidays as they are donated to about 40 local charity organizations.

The Hershey Bears have once again established a new world record in one of the more unusual promotions in all of sports.

The Bears, the oldest and most decorated team in the American Hockey League, collected 45,650 teddy bears and stuffed animals in Sunday's annual Teddy Bear Toss. This surpasses the club's previous world record of 34,798 collected in 2018. The world-famous event sees fans throw stuffed animals onto the ice following the team's first goal of the game. The stuffed animals are then collected and donated to around 40 local charities ahead of the holiday season.
