Deputies identify the pedestrian who was killed in a Redding hit-and-run

Deputies identified the person who was pronounced dead at the scene of a hit-and-run crash in Redding on June 9.

REDDING, Calif. - Shasta County Sheriff's Office said they identified the person who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Wednesday, June 9 in Redding.

Deputies identified 55-year-old Wally Wayne Rogers who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An unknown driver struck and killed Rogers in the roadway on South Bonnyview Road, east of East Bonnyview Road Wednesday at 4:53 a.m., according to the Redding Police Department. 

The Shasta Area Safety Communications Agency received a call of a pedestrian down and the suspect drove off before officers arrived. 

Police closed the roads temporarily as they investigated the scene. 

The Redding Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the collision.
