Oroville, Calif. --  On Thursday morning, an Oroville man was convicted of killing a bicyclist in a DUI hit & run last September.

38-year-old Anthony Lewis Abuanbar, who investigators say was on meth, ran over 53 year old Michael Cesspooch of Marysville on Feather River Boulevard in Oroville.

Witnesses, including a police officer, saw Abuanbar pull over and get out of his pick-up to remove the bike that was stuck underneath his Ford F-150.

On Friday, he was found guilty of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

“It provides a nature of justice for the family, although no amount of time in prison could ever bring back the victim here. In a large part this is a tragedy for everybody involved,” said Butte County Deputy District Attorney David Garner.

Earlier this week Abuanbar pleaded guilty to leaving the scene and also to fleeing from a police officer.

Abuanbar will be sentenced on June 27th, and could serve up to 17 years in state prison.
