Highway 99 crash into tree near Live Oak results in 1 death, 2 injuries

A death and two injuries were the result of a Highway 99 crash near Live Oak early Thursday morning.

SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. - A 21-year-old from Oroville died at the scene of an eary morning traffic collision on Thursday south of Live Oak on Highway 99 north of Paseo Rd., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Two other people were injured.

Jeff Clark, a 29-year-old Oroville man, was driving a 2000 Honda Accord southbound of Highway 99. The CHP said Clark allowed the Honda to veer onto the west shoulder where it hit a tree. The Honda flipped over. The driver, Clark, received major injuries. One passenger, who is an unidentified 21-year-old from Oroville, died at the scene.

Another passenger, 27-year-old Sadie Bradford of Oroville, received minor injuries and was able to get out of the vehicle without assistance.

According to the CHP, none of the people in the Honda were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the collision. CHP will continue to investigate this crash.
