FRENCH GULCH, Calif. - Fire crews are battling a 50-acre fire in Shasta County near French Gulch on BLM land.

The fire started just before 1:30 p.m., and the smoke can be seen from Redding.

CAL FIRE quickly responded with 4 air tankers, 10 engines, 4 bulldozers, and 3 helicopters, but they're having difficulty accessing the fire because of the steep terrain in the area.

No homes are threatened, and no evacuation orders are in place.
