Chico police investigating stabbing on Nord Avenue

Chico police are investigating a stabbing that they say happened near Nord and Stewart Avenues on Tuesday morning.

UPDATE 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 - Chico police have arrested a suspect they say is involved in two stabbing incidents that happened within 24 hours on Nord Avenue. 

The suspect was identified as James Jacobs, 33, and was detained without incident.

The two stabbing incidents were only two of the three that happened within the past 24 hours in Chico. All suspects involved are in custody and the victims are in stable condition.

UPDATE 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 - The Chico Police Department has released new information regarding a stabbing incident that happened early Tuesday morning. 

Authorities now say that the stabbing happened at 729 Nord Avenue, which is the Villa Sierra apartment complex. This is the same area where police say a stabbing also occurred Monday night. They also believe that the incidents may be connected.

UPDATE 9:16 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 - Police told our reporter at the scene that the suspect stabbed one person at the Village at the Timbers Apartment Complex and then barricaded himself in a woman's garage on Stewart Avenue. 

He was arrested without incident. 

Police found a knife outside of Gojo's Market that they believe may have been the weapon used in the crime. 

Chico police say that this is the third stabbing incident in the city in the last 24 hours. 

A woman living on Stewart Avenue told Action News Now what it was like to have the suspect barricaded in her garage.

UPDATE 8:47 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 - Chico police have confirmed with our reporter at the scene that one person was stabbed, but their injuries are not life-threatening. 

Authorities also say the suspect is known to police.

CHICO, Calif. - There is a heavy police presence on Stewart and Nord Avenues Tuesday morning in Chico. 

Chico police say that a man was arrested on Steward Avenue and is in custody. We are working to learn the circumstances under which he was arrested. 

However, authorities say they have found a knife near Gojo's Market on Nord Avenue that could potentially be associated with the crime.
