Butte County has seen a significant increase in virus cases over the past week, which is consistent with reports from nearby counties. Health officials said while they are still investigating details of these new cases, many appear to be from close contact with a previously confirmed case and from small gatherings such as BBQs and celebrations with friends and family.
Health officials are urging residents to take action to slow the spread of the coronavirus by following state and local guidelines, including wearing a face covering when in public and common spaces.
“I’m very sad to announce that we’ve lost another one of our community members to this virus,” stated Danette York, Director of Butte County Public Health. “We remind the community that gatherings are still disallowed by the Governor and we must remain diligent in our fight against the coronavirus.”
