Halloween Hustle Costume Run is Sunday in Chico

The memorial run and walk benefits programs that help children with disabilities.

CHICO, Calif. - The 7th Annual Halloween Hustle Costume run takes place Sunday, Oct. 28 in Chico's Bidwell Park. It features a 5k Run, 2.5k Run/Walk and a Kid's Dash.

Costumes are encouraged as there will be prizes for best costumes. There will also be awards. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the Run/Walk starts at 8:30 a.m. It all takes place at the One Mile Recreation Area. 

The cost to take part is $25 for Adults, $15 for Students and kids 8 and under get in for free. The Kid's Dash is also free.

The event honors the life of Jesse Kohen and his commitment to children with disabilities.   

$500 from the proceeds will be presented by the Jesse Kohen Foundation as a scholarship to a Chico State student in Special Education-related fields. Money is also donated to the Special Education programs at Chico and Pleasant Valley High Schools.  Also, this spring a beautiful garden will be planted on the campus of Loma Vista school in Chico, which serves students with special needs.
