There was a heavy police presence in the downtown Chico area as officers investigated reports of gunshots reported in the area of N. Cedar St.

Updated 10:15 p.m. - Action News Now Assignment Editor Ricardo Tovar was at the scene and said at approximately 10:10 p.m. police opened up the streets that had been closed and are leaving the scene. Chico police officers told Tovar that they were not able to locate any evidence of a shooting incident and are closing down the investigation.

CHICO, Calif. - Police presence is heavy in the downtown Chico area in and around N. Cedar St. where gunshots were heard by citizens and then reported to 9-1-1.

After 9:00 p.m. police responded to the reports and closed off several roads. A perimeter has been set and people are not being allowed into the area of N. Cedar near Warner Street, at W. 1st St., W. 2nd St., and W. 4th St.
