BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - On Monday, March 9, work starts to make the drive between Chico and Paradise a little bit safer.

Crews will begin work at 7 a.m. and last until 5 p.m. during hours of operation.

Crews will work to install new metal guardrails along the Skyway.

One portion of guardrail will be replaced on the uphill section of the Skyway between Honey Run Road and Spanish Garden Drive.

Two new portions of guardrail will be added on the uphill and downhill sections of Skyway, just downhill from lookout point.

Drivers can expect lane closures while the work is underway.

The project is expected to wrap up by April 6.

This entire project kickstarted after the parents of Brianna Cassidy, the woman killed in a 2014 crash on the Skyway, requested safety improvements on that road.
