GLENN COUNTY, Calif. – A group formed on social media woke up bright and early Thursday to show some love to local law enforcement.

The group showed their appreciation by dropping off gifts to local law enforcement officers.

Action News Now was there when the Backing the Badge group handed out some goodies to the Orland Police Department. Organizers said their goal is to lift the spirits of officers working during a divided time in our country.

“The reason why I started this was simple. I just didn’t like all the hate I was seeing on social media,” shared Brittany Stidham, creator of Backing the Badge. “It was very saddening and I knew that the only way to beat this is with love.”

Organizers also handed out gifts to officers from CHP Willows, Glenn County Probation, and the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office.

The final Friday of November was a beautiful one for northern California with plentiful sunshine, warmer than average temperatures and weaker wind. We can expect plenty of sunshine and continued mild weather this weekend.
