GRIDLEY, Calif. – Cal Fire law enforcement said they arrested a transient on suspicion of arson in the Gridley area.
37-year-old Jose Manuel Santiagogomez was arrested on suspicion of arson for setting multiple fires to grass-covered lands in Gridley.
Cal Fire said they received an interagency communication form the Gridley Police Department stating they had detained Santiagogomez for unrelated charges. He was wanted by Cal Fire for questioning regarding several suspicious fires, according to officers.
After an interview, Santiagogomez was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail for arson to forested lands during a declared emergency. His bail is set at $325,000.
