GRIDLEY, Calif. - Gridley Police are increasing their patrolling in the city due to an increase in catalytic converter theft.

The Gridley Police Department said there has been an estimated report of 15 catalytic converter thefts over the past two months, occurring at any hour of the day.

"I think probably for the community members themselves is to keep an eye out for suspicious activity or people hanging out and if they are parked across the street or hanging close to their vehicle,” said Lieutenant Ruben Quihuiz. “It has kind of been randomly all over the downtown area."

The Gridley Police Department said it is important for people in the community to remember to always lock their cars, be aware of your surroundings, avoid parking your car in dark areas and call the Gridley police department if you see any suspicious activity.

Another disturbance will cross northern California through tomorrow. The biggest effect will be stronger wind in the valley tonight through Thursday. There are no watches or warnings for fire danger, but the wind won't help.
