CHICO, Calif. - A Celebration of Gratitude to benefit the Torres Community shelter is planned for Saturday, November 9th beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Sierra Nevada Brewery Big Room in Chico.
This is the third year for the Gala, featuring a catered dinner, no-host bar, music by Holly Taylor, a live and silent auction and an inspirational program. 100% of the proceeds will go to the shelter. One of the auction items is dinner with Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea, by Chef Ann Leon of the new (soon to open) Burban Kitchen.
Since 1997 the Torres Community Shelter has provided more than one million nights of shelter, serving 900 people in the past year. It is a program of the True North Housing Alliance (formerly Chico Community Shelter Partnership). The mission of the shelter adheres to a formula of compassion, dignity, and accountability to move people out of homelessness. In 2018 it placed 27 percent of its guests in permanent housing.
