SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California Gov. Gavin Newsom will join a local briefing Friday with the state’s top fire and emergency management officials and emergency responders battling wildfires across Northern California.
Gov. Newsom declared a statewide emergency due to the widespread fires and extreme weather conditions and secured FMAGs to bolster the state’s response to various fires burning in Santa Cruz, San Mateo Napa, Nevada, Lake, Solano, Yolo and Monterey counties. Read More.
The briefing is set to begin at 11 a.m. and the governor's office says Newsom will speak at 11:30 a.m.
In attendance will be Gov. Newsom, Cal Fire Chief Thom Porter, Office of Emergency Services Director Mark Ghilarducci, California National Guard Adjutant General David Baldwin, and local and state emergency responders.
