PARADISE, Calif. - Teen climate change activist Greta Thunberg was in Paradise this week.

Julian Martinez of Paradise took his picture with her on Monday, October 28th, and shared it on Facebook.

He told us he started up a conversation with the 16-year-old from Sweden when he stopped in for lunch at Meeho's Restaurant on the Skyway and saw her there.  She told him she was in Paradise to "gain perspective"  on the Camp Fire.  She and her film crew ended up interviewing Martinez, who lost his home to the fire.

Ironically, Martinez unsuccessfully ran for Town Council last November on the platform of Fire Prevention.  He found out he lost the election on November 7th, the day before the Camp Fire started.

Martinez told Action News Now that what he came away with from his talk with Thunberg,  is how important it is for people to listen to each other ... even if they don't share the same political views.

Quiet, beautiful and very warm weather for California today, but a lot of changes are coming over the next week. The first of several disturbances will approach on Tuesday, and it will lead to more wind, mainly mtn showers/t'storms, and a cooldown.
