UPDATE: 11:18 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 - Officers have identified two people who were arrested Wednesday evening after a high-speed chase and manhunt that started in Glenn County and ended in Chico.
Glenn County deputies said they were called out to report of shots fired in Hamilton City at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies spotted one of two suspects vehicles and a pursuit began.
The pursuit reaches speeds of 100 miles-per-hour before the car crashed into a fence at Dayton and Elmer Roads in Chico. The suspects then took off on foot.
After a search of the area, two men were arrested around 10:30 p.m. Ruben Perez and Martin Hernandez Castro were arrested on charges of resisting arrest. Deputies say they were unable to locate a third suspect.
CHICO, Calif. - Two people were arrested on Sept. 16 in Chico after a possible shooting in Glenn County. The manhunt prompted a warning for people to stay clear of the area of Ponoma Avenue and Dayton Road.
It all began around 8 p.m. in Hamilton City where Chico Commander, Mike Williams, says Glenn County officials were in pursuit of a shooting suspect, possibly involving a vehicle. Williams says a pursuit ensued and ultimately, the suspects crashed at Elmer Street in Chico and they all ran off.
One of the two people detained by deputies was a passenger in the suspect car. Chico Police said the pursuit into Chico reached speeds of about 100 miles per hour. The roads in the area were closed for a short time but reopened just after 10 p.m.
