Glenn County Sheriff's Posse Hosts Equestrian Events

Deadline for Jr. Rodeo sign-ups is this Friday, Sept. 21.

GLENN COUNTY, Calif. - After a one-year hiatus, the Glenn County Sheriff's Posse is once again gearing up to host its Junior Rodeo. It takes place Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Sheriff's Posse Arena on County Road 21 in Orland.

There will be four different age groups: 6-9 years old, 10-13 years old, 13-18 years old and Pee Wees (up to age 5). The deadline to register for every age group but pee wees is Friday, Sept. 21. Pee Wees can sign up the day of the event, up until 8 a.m.  

Events include goat tying, steer daubing, steer stopping, team roping, breakaway roping, calf roping, barrel racing, pole bending and single stake. Pee Wee events include dummy roping, mutton busting, stick horse race and goat un-decorating.

Awards include a beautiful saddle for All Around Champion, as well as awards through 4th place and cash payouts in each event.

A Chuck Wagon will be open for breakfast, lunch, snacks and cold drinks.

The cost is $20 per event, or $10 per event for pee wees.

The Glenn County Sheriff's Posse is also hosting a 27 and Over "Playday."  It features three divisions and five events, in addition to a Costume Contest.

The Playday takes place on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Posse Arena.  Sign up is 8 a.m., the Costume Contest is at 9 a.m. with events beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The cost is $25 for all events, second horse cost is $10.  You can only compete on one horse for a buckle prize. There will be a first place drawing for silver buckles and prizes to 5th place. 

The Chuck Wagon will be open.

The Rain Date is Sunday, Oct. 28.
