ORLAND, Calif. - The Glenn County Fair is about to wrap up this weekend after not being open last year.
Glenn County Fairgrounds CEO Miki Martin said the fair had above average attendance almost every day this weekend and hit record numbers on Saturday.
The grandstand events also sold out both Friday and Saturday night.
Employees and fairgoers alike are simply happy to finally have a fair this year.
“The atmosphere has been great,” Martin said. “Everybody is just so thankful to be out and about and be able to enjoy this time with their family and see friends they haven’t seen recently. It’s been really awesome to see that back in the community.”
Attendee Rachel Andrade agrees. “It’s refreshing," Andrade explained. "There are people who are still wearing masks because they aren’t comfortable but there is a lot of people social distancing and just enjoying themselves which is nice to see. It’s nice to see people’s smiles again.”
306 exhibitors went through the Junior Livestock Auction yesterday and brought in record numbers.
The fair will be open until 10 p.m. Sunday night. So, if you haven’t already, swing by to check out the pig races and other shows before closing.
