HAMILTON CITY, Calif. - As thousands of vaccine doses are coming to California, what does the local distribution look like in Glenn County?
Representatives from Glenn County Public Health (GCPH) say doses of the COVID-19 vaccine should be arriving for the county sometime Thursday, December 17, 2020.
Dr. Jared Garrison, the county health officer says the county will receive 255 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Garrison emphasized that doses arriving in waves.
Staff will have to pick up the shipment out of Redding. The first people expected to receive the vaccine in the county are health care workers and first responders.
Garrison adds that 200 doses of the Moderna vaccine should be arriving at Glenn County in a week or two.
GCPH says the region only has five coolers for transportation of the Pfizer vaccine and distribution will be a bit challenging.
The Pfizer vaccine must be kept at -158 degrees Fahrenheit, according to GCPH.
