CHICO, Calif. – Funland in Chico is partially open for people to get out and have some fun in the fresh air while still staying safe.
General Manager of Funland, Scott Andrews said they reopened on May 9 to the public. But only some activities are up and running including the batting cages and the mini-golf course.
Their arcade area including the games, seating, and ice cream area are closed. Andrews said employees are trained on thorough cleaning of the equipment like the bats, clubs, helmets, and golf balls. So far the community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, Andrews said.
“Literally a breath of fresh air is coming outside being able to do something with the family," Andrews said. "We have a lot of 'we've missed you' and 'we can’t wait to come back.' Facebook is really full of a lot of people saying 'when is the rink opening?' 'We want Saturday night skate' -- of course, we have to say not yet, we are just doing things a few steps at a time.”
Cal Skate is not open yet. Andrews said they’re currently cleaning skates and surfaces, moving things around to create space between games. They’re hoping to reopen that facility mid-June.
