OROVILLE, Calif. - The Forebay Aquatic Center in Oroville is offering free boat rentals this Saturday, on the first day of the summer season.
The Feather River Center is a nonprofit that operates programs at the Forebay Aquatic Center at the Thermalito North and South Forebays State Recreation Area in Oroville. They are a collaborative effort between Outdoor Education for All!, the Table Mountain Rowing Club, Butte Sailing Club, Chico State Rowing Club, and California Department of Parks & Recreation and its Division of Boating & Waterways. Their mission is to promote education, recreation, tourism, boating and water safety, and competitive water sports in and beyond the Feather River Watershed.
They are open weekends at 10:00 a.m., and weekdays at 2:00 p.m., closing one hour before sunset. On Memorial Day (Monday) they will operate on their weekend schedule. The first day of the season is Saturday, and the last day of the season is Labor Day.
The Aquatic Center has 20 single and double kayaks, 20-25 stand-up paddle boards, five pedal cruisers and 2 hydro bikes with pontoons that they rent to the public. They also offer sailing lessons, day trips, and school/organizational field trips.
