Fourteenth Fire arson suspect arrested

After an investigation of what started the Fourteenth Fire, CAL FIRE said it arrest an arson suspect.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - A man was arrested for being in connection to starting the Fourteenth Fire in Thermalito, according to CAL FIRE Butte County.

39-year-old Anthony Walker of Oroville was arrested and is facing three felony charges, CAL FIRE said.

The Fourteenth Fire started at 14th St. and Grand Ave. and burned 11.5 acres.

CAL FIRE said one person sustained burn injuries.

Witnesses provided multiple statements leading to an interview by Butte County deputies with Walker. A CAL FIRE investigator had a follow-up interview which led to Walker’s arrest.

When arrested, Walker was in possession of meth and heroin, according to CAL FIRE.

He is facing two counts of unlawfully causing a fire that causes great bodily injuring and causing a wildland fire. He also faces one count of arson during a declared state of emergency.
