4 people transported to hospital after collision on Highway 70

Update: 3:53 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22. - The CHP said the cause is still under investigation but is likely due to speed and weather conditions. 

Officials said there was also a 17-year-old passenger involved but was not reported to have sustained any major injuries.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The CHP responded to a collision that occurred on Highway 70 near Pentz Road in Butte County, around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The CHP said the crash involved two vehicles, and four people were transported to a nearby hospital, one with major injuries. 

Some people required extrication from their vehicles. 

Officials said the cause of the accident and the extent of the injuries are currently unknown at this time.
