ALTURAS, Calif. – Have you ever thought about adopting a wild horse?

The Modoc National Forest wants to find adopting families for ten wild horses that were rounded up last year on federal land.

Forest officials said they have incentives, including a program that will bring the horse from Modoc County all the way to your doorstep.

You need to live within eight hours of Alturas to qualify.

The weather over northern California has finally calmed substantially. Although it would be fantastic to have valley rain and mountain snow, we have some exceptional weather ahead for the end of October and beginning of November.
