Firefighters put out homeless encampment fire under Redding bridge

The Redding Fire Department quickly put out a homeless encampment fire underneath a bridge Friday morning.

REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Fire Department quickly put out a homeless encampment fire underneath a bridge Friday morning.

SHASCOM told Action News Now over the phone that flames were reported after 7 a.m. Friday near South Bonnyview Road and Bechelli Lane.

When firefighters arrived they found the fire at a homeless camp under the Bonnyview Bridge.

Crews had the fire under control within the 7 a.m. hour. Large plumes of smoke could be seen in the immediate area.

There are currently no reports of injuries. No word yet on how large the flames were. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
