REDDING, Calif. - A hit-and-run caused a five-car pile-up and a brief road closure on North Market Street on Thursday, according to Redding Police Department.

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. on North Market Street at Quartz Hill Road.

Police said there was an unidentified driver in a white pick-up truck who was driving northbound on North Market Street.

The front of the truck hit the back of a vehicle stopped at the light on Quartz Hill Road. This caused a chain reaction of rear ends for five cars.

The white pick-up truck took off after it damaged the front of the truck.

Two people in the other vehicles reported minor injuries with one being transported to a local hospital.

The pickup truck has not been located. Police described the truck as a “white newer model pickup truck, possibly with a lumber rack and construction material in the back.”

The collision is under investigation and Redding Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department at (530) 225-4200.
