CHICO, Calif. - The Chico Fire Department, as well as Cal-Fire-Butte County, responded to a 5-acre fire that broke out in Upper Bidwell Park late Wednesday night.
Firefighters first got a call about the fire at around 9:30 p.m., crews initially said the fire was 20 acres in size, but have since downgraded that 5 acres.
Cal Fire says it was burning in the area of Alligator Hole, north of Pinnacle Heights Court.
No evacuations were issued, the fire is 85 percent contained, crews expect full containment before noon.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Cal Fire-Butte County and Chico Fire Department are on scene of a vegetation fire in upper Bidwell Park. Officials are calling this the Horseshoe Fire. Cal Fire says flames broke out in the area of Alligator Hole, north of Pinnacle Heights Court, at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. It is around 20 acres at this time. Cal Fire says two engines, dozer, fire crew, battalion chief and prevention officer are all responding. There are no evacuations being ordered.
