Firefighters Close to Containing Fire in western Tehama Co., Evacuations Lifted

Firefighters are close to containing the “Apple Fire” burning in western Tehama County, the blaze prompted an evacuation order near Apple and Paskenta Roads.

TEHAMA COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters are close to containing the “Apple Fire” burning in western Tehama County, the blaze prompted an evacuation order near Apple and Paskenta Roads.

According to Cal Fire, the fire started just after 2 p.m. on Saturday and has burned 2,500 acres with 80 percent containment as of 10 a.m. Sunday.

So far the huge blaze has destroyed five homes and three outbuildings in the area, but evacuation orders have since been lifted.

About 58 personnel from Cal Fire Tehama-Glenn Unit were sent to battle the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined by Cal Fire.
