YANKEE HILL, Calif. – A North Complex and Camp Fire survivor says he’s coping with anxiety even as the fire threat lessens.
The North Complex Fire continues burning in Butte and Plumas counties and is impacting nearby communities.
John Dressler, from Yankee Hill, lost his home back in 2018 during The Camp Fire. He says the recent nearby fires have him on edge.
“A lot of worrying, stress, a lot of sleepless nights,” said Dressler.
Dressler recently had to evacuate his home, when Yankee Hill was placed under a mandatory evacuation order because of the fire.
“Gut-wrenching is the first word that comes to mind. It’s like here we go again. Everything is up the air you are still looking over your shoulders," he said.
However, Dressler is back home this week after the evacuation order was reduced to a warning.
Friday, he shared a message with his tight-knit community - a community that has gone so much over the past few years.
“I know it’s very upsetting but you gotta focus on the goodness. There is a lot of goodness out there,” said Dressler.
He adds, he is just very thankful he was able to return home.
