OROVILLE, Calif. – An early morning fire destroyed a home in Oroville Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to 13 Meadowview Drive in Oroville around 7:10 a.m.. Once on scene, firefighters found a house engulfed in flames.

Oroville Fire Battalion Chief, Chris Tenns, told Action News Now the fire started at an unoccupied bedroom in the house. Firefighters attacked it aggressively and knocked down the flames within 20 minutes.

The homeowner, a male living by himself, escaped safely with the help of smoke detectors alerting him. He was not injured and grabbed all his pets as well, according to Chief Tenns.

We've had a mostly sunny valley with a few more clouds over the mountains today, but it's been another beautiful day with warmer highs than yesterday. Much warmer weather is headed our way this weekend... enjoy, but stay cool!
