Fire destroys home in Oroville

An early morning fire has destroyed a home in Oroville.

OROVILLE, Calif. – An early morning fire destroyed a home in Oroville Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to 13 Meadowview Drive in Oroville around 7:10 a.m.. Once on scene, firefighters found a house engulfed in flames.

Oroville Fire Battalion Chief, Chris Tenns, told Action News Now the fire started at an unoccupied bedroom in the house. Firefighters attacked it aggressively and knocked down the flames within 20 minutes.

The homeowner, a male living by himself, escaped safely with the help of smoke detectors alerting him. He was not injured and grabbed all his pets as well, according to Chief Tenns.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Crews are still on scene mopping up right now. Cal Fire also assisted in this.
