Fire crews quickly knock down house fire in Chico

Fire crews quickly contained a house fire that broke out around 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

CHICO, Calif. - Fire crews quickly contained a house fire that broke out in Chico around 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

CAL FIRE and Chico Fire responded to a house fire at 3700 Esplanade that started in a bedroom, CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Garrett Needles said.

The fire was confined in the bedroom, there was small smoke damage and all residents escaped.

Needles said about six to 10 people live in the home, no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to CAL FIRE.

The last two days saw quite a bit of rain in Northern California. Today we could see more but the showers look to be more isolated today than in previous days. Highs today are expected to reach the upper 50s to lower 60s.
