Fire crews contained a six-acre Redding vegetation fire

Firefighters were able to put out a two-acre vegetation fire in a river bed in Redding Friday afternoon.

REDDING, Calif. - Redding Fire Department said they put out a six-acre fire Friday afternoon.

The fire was located south of Highway 44 on East Cypress Ave.

Crews responded to a two-acre vegetation fire and spread to six acres by the time the fire was put out. 

The vegetation fire broke out around 12:15 p.m. and the fire was out in about 30 minutes.

No structures were threatened and the department said the fire was human-caused. 

Crews will be on scene for about 3 hours mopping up. 

No injuries were reported.
