WILLOWS, Calif. – There was a fire reported Saturday afternoon at the Glenn County Waste Treatment facility on the east side of Highway 99 south of Willows.
According to the Willows Fire Department, dry vegetation in the overflow pond area caught on fire shortly after 2:00 p.m.
It was windy, so flames blew to the east carrying the flames into a ditch before spreading across the rest of the dry field.
Most of the fire was in the northeast corner of the field and eventually covered approximately three acres.
Firefighters were able to leave the scene at approximately 5:00 p.m.
