ORLAND, Calif. - The Orland Fire Chief said a house fire broke out after 2:10 a.m. Thursday morning on Tehama St. and Third St. in Orland.

When firefighters got to the scene they found a home completely engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly responded to a structure fire on Tehama St. and Third St. early Thursday morning.

A man was found dead inside the home as he was one of three people inside of the home at the time of the fire.

The man who died got trapped inside the house, according to the fire chief.

The two survivors escaped as one of them escaped through the front and the other survivor escaped through the bathroom window. Both of the survivors were treated for smoke inhalation.

The brother of the victim said the man was 63 years old and was disabled.

The home was destroyed and it took firefighters as it took about three minutes to get to the scene.

When they arrived, they were not able to immediately enter the home since the fire was breaking out in the backside of the house.

Firefighters attacked his fire in the air with a ladder truck and they went inside the building.

As a result of the fire, all the windows got busted open, the basement got gutted and the roof collapsed.

Multiple agencies came out to assist in this incident including Willows Fire Department, Hamilton City Fire Department, Capay Fire Department, Artois Fire Department, Orland Police Department and Glenn County deputies.

It took roughly 45 minutes for a complete knockdown of the house fire. Firefighters tried to save the man but it was too late when they arrived at the scene.

At one point, one nearby home was threatened but that was mitigated, meaning no other home got burned.

The cause is still under investigation
