Felon Asks Anderson Officers for Directions to a Drug Deal

Posted: Jan 2, 2018 6:21 PM

Anderson, Calif -- A man is behind bars Tuesday after allegedly getting lost and asking Anderson Police for directions to a drug deal.

Officers say it happened around 1:45 in the morning near North and Church Streets, that’s where 40-year-old Chris Meng Lee parked in front of a fire hydrant and asked officers for directions to a mobile home park.
Officers then asked Lee’s permission to search his vehicle, and they found a loaded fire arm and more than a pound of marijuana.
A voluntary phone search also revealed he was on his way to sell the drugs.
Detectives at the police department say although voters have made recreational marijuana use legal as of January 1, 2018, that does not mean you can sell a pound and a half of weed by driving it around.
Lee has since been booked into the Shasta County Jail.
He's now facing charges for possessing a firearm as a felon, possessing marijuana for sale, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

The first weekend of autumn was pleasant for northern California, but our relatively tranquil weather will change soon. A Pacific storm is approaching the West Coast, and it will bring our area rain showers and gusty wind soon.
