Very pleasant and welcome changes are on tap for your Thursday across Northern California. The showers that we tracked through the Northern Mountains last night have now tapered off, but there will be another chance for patchy sprinkles in that region this afternoon. Northern California is dry for the start of your Thursday morning, and temperatures have become chilly overnight. Valley areas are mostly starting out in the 50's this morning, and mountain areas have dipped into the 30's to 40's overnight. You may want a jacket or at least an extra layer on your way out the door this morning. Winds are starting out of the North to around 5mph early today, but will shift to become out of the South to 10mph this afternoon. Humidity has recovered a little better overnight, and is expected to stay above 25 percent in the valley this afternoon. High temperatures are projected to be even cooler than yesterday. Valley areas will end up in the mid 70's to low 80's this afternoon, and mountain areas are projected to top out in the 60's to 70's later today. The lighter winds, higher humidity, and cooler temperatures will result in much lower fire danger today.

Temperatures will stay well below average over the next several days, but are not expected to be as cool as today moving forward. Valley areas are projected to hover in the low to mid 80's from Friday through your weekend. Skies will stay sunny, and conditions will be quite comfortable for mid September. Low temperatures are projected to end up in the mid 40's to mid 50's over the next several mornings in lower elevations. Models are hinting at slightly warmer temperatures ahead for the start of next week, but temperatures are currently projected to stay several degrees below average through Wednesday. Most valley areas will end up in the mid 80's on Monday and Tuesday. A change of pace will be possible from Wednesday through the end of next week. Models are currently split on whether we should expect another cooler system to approach and impact our region towards the end of next week, or warmer weather to return to Northern California. As of now, the warmer solution looks a bit more likely. Temperatures could end up back in the high 80's to mid 90's towards the end of next week if that is the case.
