UPDATE 4:39 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 - The victim was identified by California Highway Patrol as Erica Adrienne Tooley, 20, of Wenatchee, Wash.
UPDATE 4:47 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 - A woman was killed Monday when a car filled with two other women and three minors, rolled over several times on Highway 299 E west of Fall River Mills.
According to California Highway Patrol – Redding Division, at around 5:30 p.m. a 2004 Nissan Armada driven by Elida A Tooley, 21, of Burney was westbound on Highway 299 E west of Pit No. 1 Powerhouse Road when she allowed her vehicle to travel off the road.
That caused the Nissan to roll over and eject one of the passengers, ultimately killing a 20-year-old woman from Fall River Mills.
Tooley and one of the minors were sent to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries, while the other woman and minors were taken to Mayers Hosptial and later released.
Authorities closed a portion of the highway for nearly nine hours as it reopened at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Investigators are still looking into the incident, but they do not suspect drugs or alcohol played any factors.
The name of the deceased woman from Fall River Mills has not been released.
SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - Highway 299 is shut down in eastern Shasta County due to a fatal accident. The crash happened just before 7 p.m. about four miles west of Fall River Mills. The California Highway Patrol has no estimate on when the highway will be reopened.
California Highway Patrol has not released any information about the crash.
