UPDATE: Northbound Interstate 5 has reopened in Tehama County following a deadly crash Tuesday Morning.
The CHP are releasing more details about the crash. Officials say an unidentified 21-year old mane was driving a 2017 Jeep north on I-5 at an undetermined speed. Officials say that driver then left the west road edge and hit a guardrail, before swerving east and rentering the northbound lanes. The CHP says the Jeep then came at a rest in the right lane of the highway.
The CHP says a driver in a box truck driving northbound was not able to stop in time, and crashed into the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep died on scene. His identity has not yet been released.
The CHP is investigating the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
The California Highway Patrol says one person was killed when a box truck and another vehicle collided around 3:40 a.m. just north of Gyle Road near Corning. Few details are known at this time, but we do know that one person in the other vehicle was killed.
Northbound I-5 was closed for a couple hours as crews cleared debris from the roadway.
This is a developing story. We're working to get updates as we learn more.
