Chico, Calif. - Participants are encouraged to "dress to impress" in a favorite fairy tale or children's charater costume in the upcoming Fantasy Fun Run to benefit Caper Acres in Chico's Bidwell Park. It takes place on Saturday, April 28th at the Sycamore Field Recreation Area.

Check-in is at 7 a.m., and the race starts at 8:15 a.m. It's hosted by the City of Chico Parks Department.

You can choose to take part in either the 5K or 1 mile loop, all races are timed. Registration includes a race t-shirt and chip timer bib.

The latest project at the park is the new Swing Area, which will open in early May.  Park Officials say that proceeds from this year's run will help pay for replacement of the Crooked House, which was destroyed by a falling tree during a storm.   The plans call for not one, but two new Crooked Houses with a bouncy bridge in between them.

Race day will also include family fun activities provided by local businesses.

Entry fees are $35 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under.  You can find out more about the Caper Acres Renovation Project, the race and how to register for it here
