Family's dog killed in early morning house fire

The fire happened around 1 a.m. Friday morning on Dakota Avenue, in Biggs.

The Biggs family is safe today, after escaping a fire at their home.

It's all thanks to a passerby who saw flames coming out of the garage and woke the family up.

The fire happened around 1 a.m. Friday morning on Dakota Avenue, in Biggs.

When firefighters arrived, the garage was up in flames.

Crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the home.

No one was injured, but family members tell us that one of their three dogs was killed, another badly burned and a third missing.

The missing dog is a red tip hound.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
