CHICO, Calif. - A large tree branch damaged cars and injured a woman in Downtown Chico on July 28.
The city's Urban Forester Richard Bamlet said the limb fell from a 50-foot tall Chinese Pistache tree at Third and Salem Streets around 12:30 p.m.
One person was walking by and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Bamlet said the tree was on city property and showed no signs of any problems.
He attributes the accident to the "Summer Limb Drop" phenomenon, something that occurs after long periods of hot weather.
